These markings indicate, both within and outside built-up areas, a pedestrian crossing where pedestrians have priority over vehicles.
It may be supplemented by the specific vertical PEDESTRIAN CROSSING sign.
On secondary extra-urban roads, it must be preceded by the PEDESTRIAN CROSSING WARNING sign.
It may also be oblique.
It requires drivers to stop and give way to pedestrians crossing the carriageway.
A pedestrian crossing may be preceded on the right by a yellow zig-zag line, as shown in the figure, to improve visibility.
