CATEGORY B DRIVING LICENCE Entitles the holder to drive: Motor vehicles (tricycles, quadricycles, and motorcycles, the latter only up to 125 cm³ and 11 kW, and only within Italy). Motor vehicles for the transport of passengers and goods (including trucks and motorhomes) carrying no more than eight passengers in addition to the driver, with a maximum permissible weight of up to 3.5 tonnes, including those towing a light trailer (up to 750 kg). Non-light trailers may also be towed, provided that the total weight of the vehicle combination does not exceed 3.5 tonnes. Emergency service vehicles with a maximum permissible weight of up to 3.5 tonnes. Agricultural machinery, including oversized vehicles. Non-oversized work machinery that must not exceed a mass of 3.5 tonnes. It also entitles the holder to drive vehicles that can be driven with AM and B1 licences. It allows the driving of vehicles that can be driven with an A1 licence, but only within the national territory (Italy). The Category B licence may be obtained by individuals who have reached the age of 18. The Category B driving licence is subject to speed and driving restrictions for the first three years from the date the exam was passed (limits of 100 km/h on motorways and 90 km/h on main extra-urban roads, and double point deduction). It is valid for 10 years for those under 50 years of age, 5 years for those between 50 and 70 years of age, and 3 years for those over 70 years of age. It is renewed by the Civil Motorisation Office (Motorizzazione Civile), provided the holder still possesses the required physical and mental requirements.
