Topic explanation
It is carried out without creating danger or obstruction to others:
the rearview mirror must be checked to ensure that no following vehicle has begun an overtaking maneuver
the maneuver to be performed must therefore be signaled in advance by activating the turn indicator
care must be taken not to enter the road into which one is turning in the wrong direction
It is carried out by entering the lane that allows the maneuver to be performed; therefore:
on a two-way road, move towards the centre of the carriageway
on a one-way road, move as close as possible to the left edge
Unless otherwise signaled, turns are made giving priority to vehicles approaching from the right, from the opposite direction, and to pedestrians.
It is not necessary to come to a complete stop before completing the maneuver if no vehicles are approaching.
At a junction:
if there is a ROUNDABOUT sign (fig. 104), occupy the right area, leaving the centre of the junction to the left
otherwise, occupy the left area, leaving the centre of the junction to the right
