It is a regulatory sign (priority). It announces a merge from the right with an acceleration lane; we have priority over the vehicles merging.
It is normally positioned at a distance of 150 metres from the merge point.
The GIVE WAY sign is placed on the slip road (side entry road).
It instructs the driver to exercise utmost caution to avoid accidents, facilitating or at least not obstructing the merging of vehicles.
It is not true that it can precede the GIVE WAY sign (which is instead placed on the side entry road).
It is not true that it permits a right turn at the next junction, as it is an acceleration lane and therefore a one-way route.
