Permitted passages
It is a mandatory regulatory sign. It indicates to the driver the only permitted passages for bypassing an obstacle (traffic island, crash cushion, roadworks, central reservation, etc.).
The driver may pass to the left, leaving the obstacle to the right, or pass to the right, leaving the obstacle to the left.
It is not true that it requires a turn (there is no intersection).
It is not true that it is preceded by the ROUNDABOUT sign.
